Job Summary:
This role is responsible for managing and maintaining ruminant feed formulations with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with both nutritional standards and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and skilled in cross-functional communication. Working closely with nutritionists, sales, operations, and purchasing, the Formulation Specialist will play a key role in delivering effective feed solutions to support both internal initiatives and customer success. The Formulation Specialist will support the Ruminant Nutrition team in creating cost-effective, high-performing diets and formulations while ensuring alignment with Ralco’s technologies and approach to addressing the industry’s greatest challenges. Key Responsibilities:
Manage, maintain, and reformulate ruminant product formulations in alignment with company standards and industry best practices.
Implement ingredient substitutions and rework formulas as needed to accommodate supply, nutritional, or cost considerations.
Formulate customized ruminant diets based on input from nutritionists, the sales team, and customer specifications.
Collaborate with internal teams to support economic projections for both Ralco and its customers.
Provide nutritional support through direct communication with nutritionists, sales representatives, and customers.
Assist technical staff in efforts to expand the customer base through formulation expertise, service support, and Ralco technology knowledge.
Coordinate with operations and the purchasing department to ensure formula feasibility and raw material availability.
Develop a deep understanding of Ralco’s nutritional products, services, and their application in various production systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in animal science, ruminant nutrition, or related field.
- Experience in ruminant nutrition and feed formulation.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex nutritional concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in economic evaluation and diet optimization.
Ability to work cross-functionally with nutrition, sales, purchasing, and technical teams.
Familiarity with feed formulation software and nutritional databases.

Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in animal science, ruminant nutrition, or a related field.
Experience: 2+ Years ruminant nutrition and feed formulation experience.
Competencies: Attention to detail, technical expertise, data management, problem-solving, customer focused, collaborative, analytical thinking, good communicator.
Physical: The following activities are required as needed to perform the job function; lifting, driving, bending, climbing, carrying, and twisting. Location: Marshall, MN or Remote
Travel: This position requires travel between Ralco facilities, to customer locations, research trials, trade shows, and conferences.
Pay & Benefits:
Wage: $50,000+ based upon qualifications and experience
